Colleen Weste
Colleen Weste has had a fascination for many years in creating
unique wearable art pieces. She is addicted to hand painting silk,
shibori resist dyeing, felting and machine stitching. She combines
her love of colour and the landscape in her unique garments and
shawls.
She is author of the book Silk Painting Techniques and Ideas for
Colour and Design and has a Grad Dip in Textile Design from RMIT.
Colleen is an award winning artist exhibiting nationally and
internationally. A member of the World Shibori Network she has
studied with shibori masters in Japan and France as well as Yoshiko
Wada founder of WSN.
She tutors at Swinburne University Costume & Design and has given
workshops at the NGV and throughout Australia & New Zealand. She
works from her studio in the Macedon Ranges while heading an arts
collective gallery in the Macedon Ranges.
