Jan Irvine-Nealie

Gulgong based artist Jan Irvine-Nealie is well known for her particular style of stitched art textiles; her work has been represented in international exhibitions and publications.

Her unique style combines an artist’s approach to image making with the ancient tradition of stitching. The enticing texture of her fully stitched surfaces embellishes the constructed image in her work.

This image is usually airbrushed, and her work is entirely hand stitched, creating strong and beautiful textiles that portray subtle shifts in mood as they respond to the given light of their environment.

In another direction with her textiles and in response to the birth of grandchildren she has adapted a method of chenille construction to make up designs as baby wraps and art-smart chenille.
