Phyllis Hoffman
Born in South Africa and
moving to Australia in 1993, sewing and craft have always
filled Phyllis’s life. Having taught sewing and patternmaking
for nearly 20 years and writing five sewing related books
between 1985 and 1993, her passion and focus has always been
textiles. Knitting has always been her form of relaxation, and
it is no surprise that when she stumbled on Felting she took
to it with great passion. Phyllis now incorporates her fashion
skills with her felting skills to produce designer clothing in
felt.
Now I suppose I am what could be described as a "mixed
media/Textile artist." What's that? Well, I think it's a
person who keeps a wide variety of "materials and bits and
pieces”, takes great pleasure in using them and dabbles in
anything to do with textiles.
Her aim is to live long enough to use up all the bits and
pieces of fabric, thread, wool, roving, lace, paper, paint,
stamps etc!!
