Soomee Kim

Soomee Kim began her career in textiles at University in Seoul, majoring in Batik and Weaving/Tapestry. She completed her Masters of Applied Art (Textiles) in Korea; and also studied Textiles at Box Hill Institute Melbourne for a year in 2006.

It was in fact her introduction to felting in Melbourne, which is now her home, which ignited her on-going passion for this textile medium. A regular exhibitor in Australia and Korea her work is a fusion of Oriental and Western influences.

SooMee’ s work displays the influence of both the Korean and Australian landscapes and her love of each; and it is constantly evolving without losing a strong focus on design and an unerringly accurate ability to make colour sing.
